My daughter just started volunteering here and let me say it’s an amazing place. They care for the animals. There cages are always clean and the animals have the proper vet care they need. All the staff here are kind and caring and knowledgeable. They do let the animals come out of there cages to have cuddle time and interact with people which is awesome. Instead of just leaving them in there to not get use to cuddles and pets. Which I think is important. Every time we come there I’m not sad that I can’t take them all home. Because I know that they are loved here. Please if you are looking for a lovely pet come here and adopt.
The cleanest and most professional animal shelter I’ve ever been in. We adopted Tank from them years ago and loved him for the rest of his life. ❤️ 10 out of 10 would adopt from here again.
We’ve been looking to rescue an older dog (we wanted a companion for our 8-year-old rescue Daisy), but we had challenges trying to adopt through a rescue group in Aiken who doesn’t approve of invisible/electric fencing as opposed to a structural fence. Luckily we came across SPCA, and we drove there today from Augusta to find a good match for our girl.
The facility is so nice, and it was immediately apparent that all the animals are very well cared for. We worked with Seth, who was really kind and very helpful. We went through and selected a few dogs that we wanted to have Daisy meet, and he brought them all out one-by-one so they could interact together, outside in a fenced-in area.
We finally found a perfect match, a lovable little two-year-old low rider who will be coming home with us on Monday.
Thank you so much, Seth, for your helpfulness and patience today. We’re so excited about the new addition to our family and will highly recommend SPCA to anyone who is looking to adopt!
The professionals at the SPCA Vet Care Center took great care of my cat while she was getting spayed. They had easy-to-find patient forms online that I was able to print and fill out ahead of time.
My only complaint is I had an appointment for 8 am drop off. Apparently, the way they do it, everyone is scheduled for 8 am. I was the 2nd to arrive in the parking lot at 7:40. I didn't receive instructions other than it was curb side drop off. I actually thought I would pull up through a car line and the staff would come up to my car to pick up my paperwork and my cat. When I realized everyone else was getting out and walking to the front of the building, I got out as well. There were about 10 other pets and their owners there at the same time we were. When the very friendly receptionist came out she asked who was there 1st, other people started saying they were. I guess they meant they were the 1st to get in line. I felt the process was a bit unorganized. I feel like more detailed instructions given to first time visitors would be helpful and could alleviate unnecessary anxiety since a lot of pet parents are already anxious due to their pet's surgery. I did receive a pre-op phone call but it contained no information about the drop-off procedure. The only information I received concerning the drop-off procedure was it would take about 30 minutes. Which it did.
Overall we had a good experience and the lady that brought my cat out after surgery was friendly.
As a side note to other pet owners, I understand you love your dog and you know it would never hurt anyone, but some people, such as myself, are afraid of dogs. Not just big dogs, all dogs. It would be sincerely appreciated if you don't let your dog approach strangers. I mean this with all sincerity and with no ill intent. I had the added anxiety of being sniffed by a pit bull while her owner talked to another pet owner. The dog did nothing more than sniff my leg (for what felt like a long time), but it made me uncomfortable given my fear of dogs. I had to ask the owner to pull her away from me.
Adopted our Peepers and Phoebe. They are wonderful girls. Lucky to find two beautiful girls.
We took our rescue puppy in today and they were awesome.very caring and understanding.Made sure all our concerns were covered and taken care of The pricing was extremely reasonable.I highly recommend.❤️Also our lil Penny is doing so much better after her visit today.Wr look forward to going back for her follow ups.
This has to be the worst animal shelter you could ever think of going to. Every time I’ve been here which is only twice the experience was awful. They hire volunteers that don’t get paid so the workers don’t care about you or your animals. Someone broke into my house and my dogs are missing, Aiken county police department told me they were told the dog was dropped off I went here and the one on wire road which I will always recommend if you’re interested in adoptions. The lady at the front desk here told me no about having my dogs before I could even get the description of them out of my mouth. I wasn’t even offered a walk through to make sure. She lied to me and said they hadn’t received any new dogs. Yet when my husband went in he was told they just had some dropped off and still wasn’t allowed a walk through. The one on wire road AT LEAST did a walk through and allowed me to describe my dogs and printed a photo to put up on their missing board.
That was a nice clean facility. The staff was very helpful. I just didn't find a animal small enough for the space I have.
